Fertilization
Fertilization of your lawn is the single most important approach to improve lawn quality and to maintain a beautiful, healthy lawn. Healthy lawns that receive proper year round lawn care tend to be more resistant to disease and pests all year long. Crabgrass is one of the most prevalent grassy weeds found in lawns. Crabgrass thrives in full sunlight and high temperatures and can easily out compete common cool-season grasses under these conditions.
The end of spring, yet before the heat of the summer, is the best time to give the lawn a substantial feeding using a slow release fertilizer. This application provides the proper nutrients to get your lawn thru long harsh, dry summer days.
The fall (August or September) and late fall (October, November or December) fertilization is ideal for home lawns.
Fertilizations during these times will benefit lawns more than any other practice. Disease and weed problems are usually less severe when fall and late fall fertilization are practiced. Heat and drought tolerance are usually better, thus enhancing summer lawn quality. Finally, the grass plant produces more root mass and a deeper root system, resulting in an overall healthier plant.

Lawn Renovation
Miesner Brother’s & Sons can also help you when the time comes for lawn renovating. We can start with a total kill of all unwanted grassy weeds, then prepare and seed with top quality certified seeds. If your lawn just needs rejuvenation with aeration and power seeding, then our professionals can apply a starter fertilizer so we can ensure the new turf has the proper nutrients.
Core Aeration
Core Aeration provides passages for air, water, and nutrients to reach the root zone of the grass plants. It also brings soil cores to the surface, which increases microbial activity thereby reducing the thatch layer. This service is to be provided one time per season in the fall to all accessible turf areas.
Over-seeding
Turf grass seed is applied first, followed by a starter fertilizer to germinate grass seed. Grass seed and starter fertilizer will be applied with a commercial rotary spreader to ensure an even spreading of all turf areas. Settings on rotary spreaders shall be set to recommended settings and applied by a licensed applicator. This service is to be provided one time per season in the fall to all turf areas following core aeration.
Power Seeding
Many times a lawn that has excess thatch, also exhibits thinning. When we aerate the lawn, we can also perform our special Power Seeding application that forces seed into the ground at the right depth for optimum germination. This helps fill in those thin spots you may have noticed in your lawn, especially after a stressful summer.

Leaf Removal
Fall leaf cleanup is one of the most dreaded tasks a homeowner can face. Raking leaves into piles is hard enough work as it is but the challenge of bagging them and disposal is simply back breaking. Simplify your life by letting Miesner Brothers & Sons do the dirty work. We will clean up your entire property using high-powered, backpack blowers and then take away the leaves in style using our high-volume trailer-mounted leaf vacuum. If you enjoy raking them but need help with the bagging process, simply rake them to the curb or driveway and we will come by and vacuum them up.
Storm Cleanup
The last couple of years in Kentucky have been rough ones when it comes to the weather. We have had unexpected and out-of-character windstorms, snowstorms, and ice storms. As a result of the weather we have seen record-breaking power outages, downed trees, power lines and limbs, along with damaged homes and landscapes.
